Wang Xi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, visited Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL) on the afternoon of April 28 to listen to a report on the work of the Laboratory and to investigate and guide the construction work of the Laboratory. Xu Dianhui, Deputy Secretary-General of the Provincial Government, Zhu Kongjun, Secretary of the Party Group of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Gong Guoping, Director of Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, Qu Xiaojie, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, Zheng Hongbo, Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, accompanied the investigation, while Academician Wu Yun-Dong, Executive Vice Director of SZBL, and Hu Xiaojun, Secretary of SZBL Party Committee, participated in the investigation.
In the Exhibition Hall of the Laboratory, Wang Xi listened to the progress report of the innovation development course, talent team construction and scientific research planning layout of SZBL, and had a detailed understanding of the outcomes achieved by the Laboratory in basic research, applied fundamental research and independent research and development of high-end scientific instruments, etc. He gave full affirmation to the construction effectiveness of the Laboratory in the past three years and the construction planning for the next five years, and provided guidance.
After that, Wang Xi visited the Centre of Translational Research and the relevant project experimental area of SZBL, inspected the operation of the drug screening platform and the compound library, and listened to the one-stop, whole-chain innovation ecological construction and development plan of the Laboratory in new drug development and translation, and communicated with the young scientist representatives of the Laboratory, and asked about the work carried out by the research groups.
Wang Xi pointed out that the construction of SZBL has received the support and recognition from Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City, and the development of the Laboratory has been rapid and fruitful. He hoped that the Laboratory would grasp the major opportunity of building an international science and technology innovation center and a comprehensive national science center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, forge a strong main force of science and technology innovation, build a strategic science and technology force that manifests the national mission and features the strength of Guangdong, and further build an internationally competitive talent system to create more original achievements that are from nothing to all.
