The 1st Academic Conference of SZBL Institute of Neurological and Psychiatric Disorders (hereinafter referred to as the “INPD”) was successfully held on May 15 to 16, with more than 50 researchers and Principal Investigators of INPD attending the conference.
At the conference, the researchers focused on the field of neurological disorders, with special emphasis on topics such as sleep, aging and neuroimmunology, etc. Major neurological disorders have always served as one of the key research directions of INPD, and it is expected that this conference will help to enhance academic exchanges between the various subject groups to facilitate research collaboration.
Senior Investigator Gan Wenbiao first shared a presentation on “Synaptic Plasticity Research”, introducing his research efforts on synaptic plasticity. Principal Investigator Yuan Wen introduced the frontiers of Alzheimer's research and gave a presentation on his research directions and plans. Principal Investigator Jiang Xian gave a presentation on “Molecular Cellular Mechanisms of Long-term Memory and Pathogenesis of Alzheimer's Disease” and shared the research progress and plans of his group in this research direction. Principal Investigator Zhang Bo introduced the main research directions of the group, with the analysis of the molecules involved in the genesis and formation of the synapse and its correlation with autism. Principal Investigator Zhang Zhe shared the group's research on the human induced multipotential stem cell-derived cells. Principal Investigator Wu Lin presented the group's research plan of neuroimmunity and flora metabolism research.
Also, the Principal Investigators gave specific presentations on the construction of their respective research groups, members of the research groups participated to chair or complete their presentations, and 15 representatives of investigators from six groups presented their reports in between the Principal Investigators’ presentations. Dr Qiao Qian and Zhuang Huiling from Gan Wenbiao's group, Guo Yang and Huang Shuxin from Yuan Wen's group, Dr Liang Nansong and Xu Nanqi and Zhao Ming from Jiang Xian's group, Dr Liang Jian and Han Ying and Chen Jiewen from Zhang Bo's group, Yang Yuan and Yang Hao from Zhang Zhe's group, and Dr Tang Huayuan and Zou Yan and Ni Zan from Wu Lin's group, presented their reports on their respective research subjects. Researchers said they had benefited greatly from the lively atmosphere and the many questions asked.
The conference has established an in-depth academic exchange platform for all the staff of INPD, which exceeded the expectations and effectively promoted the communication and collaboration among various research groups. The scientific research results and latest developments exchanged at the conference are of great significance to the development of the INPD, which not only enhances the cohesion of talents, but also enables the promotion of sustainable high-quality research development, providing strong supports to the leading of planning for the next three to five years. All subject groups will be committed to cultivating, introducing and managing talents, and will be united in their efforts as well as in their determination to create and share a new vision of scientific research. Perseverance leads to an expected future, and it is expected that INPD will move steadily forward to the next stage!
