Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) officially announced the initiation of the Special Fund for Development of National Major Research Instruments and Facilities in 2023. SZBL senior PI Peng Qiyu's group at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering was approved to initiate the Special Fund for Development of National Major Research Instruments (free application), and this is a breakthrough for the Laboratory to undertake NSFC projects.
The dynamic brain functional imaging in activity, task and nature status is the frontier hotspot and development trend of brain research and brain imaging technology. This project can break through the bottleneck of TOF-PET time resolution of 100ps and develop a mobile wearable human brain PET molecular imaging instrument with wide view to enable real-time dynamic functional imaging of the whole brain when sitting, standing and walking.
In 2023, SZBL initiated 32 NSFC projects, with a direct funding of about 25 million yuan, and in addition to above-mentioned instrument projects, senior PI Zhou Yaoqi was also approved to conduct two key projects: one Major Research Plan Projects and one Research Fund for International Senior Scientists of NSFC; In addition, the junior PI Gu Zheng was approved to initiate the National Key R&D program for young scientists.
The Laboratory has been exploring the innovation of systems and mechanisms since its establishment, its scientific research team has been continuously enlarged, and various scientific research work has been conducted smoothly. The Laboratory has presided over more than 110 national projects, including over 30 state-level major talent funds, covering almost all the national talent projects, demonstrating the strength of the Laboratory to shoulder "national responsibilities" and its great attraction to outstanding talents.
