Recently, after the recommendation from the Talent Work Team of Shenzhen Municipal Committee, agreement from the Guangdong Provincial High-tech Leadership Team, review and approval of the Development Coordination Team of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, Yan Nieng was appointed to the director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory.
On the morning of March 22nd, 2023, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory held a staff meeting. Comrades of the departments concerned at municipal and provincial levels read out the announcement, and Yan Nieng, the Founding President of Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation and Director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory and Wu Yun-Dong, Member of the Chinese Academy of Science and Executive Vice Director of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, made statements successively. Hu Xiaojun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, presided over the meeting.
Yan Nieng made a speech to express gratitude to the trust from the leaders and the departments concerned at municipal and provincial levels and the hard work delivered by the Laboratory staff, and to pay tribute to Wu Yun-Dong and entire Laboratory leadership for their painstaking efforts and outstanding contributions. Yan Nieng wished to work together with all the Laboratory staff and friends from all walks of life who cared about the development of the Laboratory to overcome difficulties and build it into a world-class scientific research institution.
Wu Yun-Dong addressed that the achievements of the Laboratory were the result of the joint efforts of all the Laboratory staff under powerful support of leaders at all levels from municipal and provincial governments. His heart was full of gratitude and gratification when looking back on the four-year development of the Laboratory. Despite the great impact of COVID-19 pandemic, all the Laboratory staff had overcome difficulties, worked together day and night to complete the first-stage construction tasks and set up a solid foundation. He expressed full confidence to the future development of the Laboratory under Nieng’s leadership and hoped that all the staff could stick to their original intention and unite sincerely to create a better tomorrow for the Laboratory.
Hu Xiaojun said that the Laboratory has been stable, harmonious, orderly, full of talents and producing remarkable results since its establishment four years ago. In the future, all the Laboratory staff will work with more enthusiasm in a more solid style, unite in their efforts and struggle hard to meet the ardent expectations of leaders at all levels, and make the Laboratory a leading science and technology innovation center in the world.
