Flow Cytometry Symposium in Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area held successfully

In order to encourage the development and application of flow cytometry in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and enhance the open sourcing and sharing of large-scale instruments in life sciences, the Flow Cytometry Symposium in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area hosted by SZBL took place as scheduled from July 5 to 7, 2023. More than 100 experts and scholars from over 40 well-known universities, research institutes and medical institutions in China gathered in SZBL and exchanged on new hot spots and new topics about flow cytology in depth.

The symposium report includes the latest flow cytometry research and application achievements, new flow cytometry technologies, flow cytometry data processing and flow cytometry platform management. The round table invited platform technicians from nearly 20 universities, research institutes and medical institutions. They talked about the experience and difficulties on platform construction, discussed the ways for developing and improving the platform, and established a communication group of cooperation and communication with each other for the Greater Bay Area flow cytometry platform. Participants visited the core facilities in SZBL, and the platform site planning, staffing and hardware construction were highly appreciated by experts.

On behalf of the SZB Laboratory, Zheng Bo, Assistant Director of SZBL welcomed the experts and scholars at the symposium, thanked everyone for their attention to flow cytometry field and their support to SZBL, as well as their joint discussion and sharing of new technologies, new applications, representative research findings and platform management experience of flow cytometry.

At the symposium, Professor Zhang Zheng from The Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen, Professor Gao Yifang from The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Researcher Sheng Jianpeng from The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Liu Chunchun from Tsinghua University, Yu Junjing from Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, CAS, Ding Xilai from Biomedical Research Core Facilities of Westlake University, Zhang Lei from Xiamen University, Ma Qinghua, The Southwest Hospital of AMU, Su Fang from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Wu Yongqiang, Advanced Flow Cytometry Application Technology Support of CytoBank, and Feng Qianqian, Deputy Director of Center of Biomedical Analysis, Tsinghua University shared their latest applications in their respective research fields.

The symposium was led by Biochemistry Core of Office of Core Facilities in SZBL, and was strongly supported by various departments of SZBL during symposium planning. With the support and help of domestic senior experts in the field of flow cytometry, the symposium was ended successfully. The symposium created an important opportunity for flow cytometry technicians to learn and communicate, so it was widely recognized by peers in the industry.

"Bay Charm" officially launched and operated

On December 4th, the opening ceremony and biomedical industrial innovation salon of Bay Charm (Guangming Biomedical Innovation Center) was held at the Weiguang Life Science Park in Xinhu Street, Guangming District, Shenzhen City. Over two hundred people, including municipal and district leaders, leaders of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, representatives from Shenzhen Weiguang Biological Co., Ltd., resident companies, investment institutions, and cooperative units attended the event.
